Gynecology and Menopause Management
Dr. Jan Stafl has been Board Certified in obstetrics and gynecology since 1988 and in holistic medicine since 2000. In 2006, after helping to deliver over 4000 babies, he decided to concentrate his practice solely on gynecology and holistic women’s health care. He enjoys combining the best of allopathic medicine, including advanced laparoscopic and pelvic surgery, with holistic approaches to promote optimum health on all levels. His mission is to empower patients to make the best decisions about their own health care and work cooperatively with the women he serves.
He is a Certified Menopausal Practitioner, and uses herbs, nutritional therapies and natural hormones when appropriate. Management of thyroid disorders, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain are among his interests. He collaborates with a number of other complementary health care providers in Eugene. He studied with Dr.
Andrew Weil and Dr. Christiane Northrup, and follows many of their health promoting strategies with his patients.
Originally from Prague, Czech Republic, he completed the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in 1981. His residency in gynecology and obstetrics was at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a pelvic surgery fellowship. After 8 years of practice in Minnesota, he and his wife, Liba and their three children moved to Eugene in 1994. He became a founding member of Pacific Women’s Center in 1996 with Dr. Richard Beyerlein and Dr. Tamara Stenshoel. He has practiced here ever since, joined by Dr. Julie Haugen in 1997 and Dr. Byrke Beller in 2002. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, backpacking, kayaking and skiing with his friends and family.
Little Known Fact: He is an expert Chanterelle finder, and loves discovering secret hideaways in the Great Northwest!
